Pink tourmalines generally are among the most sought-after when it comes to warm soft colors. Problematic resources which are producing less and less are located in the USA and Middle East. Some African deposits yield facetable material of small sizes or bigger stones (up to 10 cts.) which is of cabochon quality, so non-facetable. This stone here is from Central Africa and belongs to the very old orogenic Mozambique Belt which is between 500 and 600 million years old. This stone is round with a diameter of 21.2 mm and a height of 16.7 mm. All facets not only bring the color to life but also exhibit a great play of reflection. Brought into a set of other stones its play of color, either more to the deep-color side or more to the bright-reflection side can be adjusted by different mounting of this stone in the jewelry. The diameter of over 20 mm and the stones clarity speak for an unusual starting material which is not found in Africa or elsewhere in the world anymore.
